Hello to everyone using AUTODOCS

Since we came back from Gelephu, Bhutan at the end of August last year, 2025, AUTODOCS went quiet on updates for quite a while — it has taken months for us to properly meet again like this. In truth we shipped a great many updates along the way; most of them were bug fixes, admittedly, which you could fairly call our daily routine.

Gle and I have always carried ideas for changing AUTODOCS. We began it from what we call the Legacy — meaning an inheritance of thinking — and we loved it dearly. Who would have guessed that a computer from twenty years ago could still open it: a simple language structure, PHP 8, relying on the server side alone, and rendered with pure CSS. It stayed with us for a good while.

Then on the 10th of June, I called Gle in the morning, and we found we had the very same thought: the framework for the next generation of AUTODOCS would be Next.js 16. We changed the shape of the database from MySQL to Postgres — traded the dolphin for the elephant — and moved from Google Cloud Compute Engine to run on Vercel, which brought our database over to Neon as well. You could say our stack today is brand new through and through.

Beyond speed and better data handling, this move opens another door: agents can now help us build and debug the code.

We hope that what we have poured into this round will give every one of you an experience worth smiling about — and we hope more of us will reach Elder of the Site this time around.
